AI Essentials: Workforce Development
Workforce Development

AI is changing what "job ready" means.
Get your participants there first.

AI Essentials delivers sector-specific AI training for the populations workforce development organizations exist to serve: adult learners, dislocated workers, opportunity youth, re-entry participants, and anyone building toward a stronger career.

Federal guidance: August 2025

The U.S. Department of Labor has issued formal guidance encouraging states and local workforce development boards to use WIOA Title I funding to support AI literacy training for youth, adults, and dislocated workers.

The stakes

The jobs most at risk are the ones your participants hold today

The workers WIOA programs serve are disproportionately concentrated in exactly the occupations with the highest automation exposure. Clerical work, data entry, customer service, warehouse operations, and routine manufacturing are all facing significant displacement pressure from AI within the next five years.

AI training doesn't just make someone better at their current job. It moves them from the displacement side of the ledger to the augmentation side, where workers who understand AI tools become more valuable, not less.

AI training doesn't eliminate the risk. It puts the worker on the right side of it.
Data entry clerksHigh risk
OCR and AI data extraction tools are rapidly replacing manual entry work
Customer service representativesHigh risk
AI chatbots and voice agents are handling a growing share of service interactions
Assembly line and warehouse workersHigh risk
Collaborative robots and autonomous guided vehicles are displacing repetitive floor tasks
Bank tellers and cashiersHigh risk
BLS projects a 15% decline in bank teller employment through 2033
Administrative assistantsElevated risk
Scheduling, correspondence, and document management are increasingly AI-automated

Who we serve

Built for every population in your program

These populations are not interchangeable. Each one comes to your program with different histories, different barriers, and different stakes. AI Essentials trains all of them with the same rigor and respects those differences.

Adult workforce learners
WIOA Title I Adult
Adult learners and low-income workers

Adults seeking to enter or re-enter the workforce in roles that pay family-sustaining wages. AI fluency is increasingly the difference between an entry-level role and a career pathway.

Dislocated manufacturing workers
WIOA Dislocated Worker
Dislocated workers and plant closure survivors

Workers who lost stable employment through layoffs, closures, or automation. AI reskilling puts them on the right side of the technology that displaced them.

Opportunity youth
YouthBuild and SYEP
Opportunity youth aged 16 to 24

Young people who are neither in school nor working. AI training paired with a stackable credential creates a first foothold in a sector career pathway rather than a dead-end job.

Re-entry participants
Re-entry Employment Opportunities
Re-entry participants

Individuals returning from incarceration face compounded barriers to employment. An AI credential from AI Essentials is something concrete they earn, and it follows them forward, not back.

Job Corps students
Job Corps
Job Corps students

Job Corps students are building trade skills and career foundations. AI Essentials adds sector-specific AI fluency to those foundations, giving graduates a credential that employers in every industry are starting to require.

SNAP and public assistance participants
SNAP Employment and Training
SNAP E&T participants

Adults receiving SNAP benefits who are required or choosing to engage in employment training. AI literacy paired with sector-specific skills creates a measurable path toward economic self-sufficiency.

The real difference

The same worker. A completely different day.

This is what AI fluency actually changes. Not job titles, not salaries, not resumes. The moment-to-moment reality of what a worker can do in a day, and how much mental energy they have left at the end of it.

Economic mobility

AI fluency doesn't just change the job. It changes the wage.

For every worker in your program, the question isn't whether AI training is interesting. It's whether it will change their economic reality. These are the roles that open up within each sector when someone earns an AI credential versus the entry-level roles they'd qualify for without one.

What this means for your program:

Every dollar of wage increase for a WIOA participant represents measurable economic mobility that your program can document. AI Essentials produces the before and after credential data that makes that story legible to your workforce board and your federal funders.

What a deployment looks like

From intake to credential in six weeks

Here is what a typical WIOA Adult program cohort looks like from start to finish. Every program type follows the same four-step structure, adapted to your population, your schedule, and your reporting cycle.

Adult workforce learners in a training session
1
Track selection and pre-assessment
Participants select a sector track based on their career goals. Every learner completes a sector-specific AI readiness baseline that establishes where they start and what they need to gain.
2
Cohort training
12 hours of scenario-based AI training delivered in whatever format fits your program: in-person at an American Job Center, hybrid, or fully online for rural and remote participants.
3
Post-assessment
Every participant completes the post-assessment. Skills gain is calculated per learner and aggregated for the cohort, giving you individual and program-level outcome documentation.
4
Credential and WIOA report
Participants receive their AI-Ready sector certificate. Your program receives a cohort impact report with pre and post assessment data formatted for WIOA Title I performance reporting.
From the people who went through it

The difference this makes isn't abstract

"

I lost my job at the plant after 14 years. I thought AI was the reason I lost it. Turns out it was the reason I found something better. I use it every day now and I make more than I did before the layoff.

Dislocated worker, Manufacturing track

"

I came in not knowing what AI even was. I left with a certificate, a skill I can actually name in a job interview, and a job offer in medical billing. That's three things I didn't have six weeks ago.

Adult learner, Healthcare track
WIOA Adult program, American Job Center
"

I was 19 and nobody was hiring me for anything real. This program gave me something on my resume that wasn't just a list of jobs I'd quit. The credential opened a door that was closed before.
